Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) is a card game that represents a significant milestone in the development of the bridge game. It evolved from straight bridge (bridge whist) and served as a precursor to the widely known contract bridge, with whist and bridge whist being its predecessors.

Notably, Auction Bridge & IB Card Game distinguishes itself from contract bridge through its unique trick scoring, bonus scoring, and penalty scoring systems. Unlike in contract bridge, there is no concept of vulnerability in Auction Bridge & IB.

Although bidding rules share similarities between the two variants, contract bridge has seen the emergence of numerous complex artificial bids and bidding systems over time.

In terms of gameplay, bidding processes, play techniques, and overarching rules exhibit resemblances between Auction Bridge & IB and contract bridge.

During the game, the dealer initiates the bidding and must aim to secure at least the odd trick in a designated trump suit or at No-trumps; passing the bid is not an option for the dealer. Bidding values are determined by points rather than tricks, with bids reflecting a greater number of points trumping those with fewer (ignoring doubles). For example, 3 Spades (27 points) prevails over 4 Clubs (24 points).

In Auction Bridge & IB, each trick beyond six contributes to the score following this point distribution:

 <li>Notrumps: 10 points</li>
 <li>Spades: 9 points</li>
 <li>Hearts: 8 points</li>
 <li>Diamonds: 7 points</li>
 <li>Clubs: 6 points</li>
</ul>

The winning threshold is set at 30 points to achieve Game.
